We are working with the region to implement an office of violence prevention. This includes leaders of city and regional governments, education, universities, healthcare and police. This will create a group of community based organisations to deliver on a hyper local basis. Empire are also operating throughout the city, including training teachers and institutions.
Bristol is a divided city. It has the lowest social mobility of any UK core city resulting in generational poverty. We have increasing knife crime and related deaths, gangs and drug issues and a widening gap between communities who are with and without opportunity.
Our programmes work with 3,000 young people across the city and we invest £2 million a year in violence reduction work. Our boxing therapy results are better than those experienced by the national health service. We now work with 13,000 young people UK wide.
