At Empire Fighting Chance, we are working with the region to implement an office of violence prevention. This includes leaders of city and regional governments, education, universities, healthcare and police. This will create a group of community based organisations to deliver on a hyper local basis. Empire is also operating throughout the city, including training teachers and institutions.
Bristol is a divided city. It has the lowest social mobility of any UK core city resulting in generational poverty. We have increasing knife crime and related deaths, gangs and drug issues, and a widening gap between communities who are with and without opportunity.
Our programmes work with 3,000 young people across the city and we invest £2 million a year in violence reduction work. Our boxing therapy results are better than those experienced by the national health service. We now work with 13,000 young people UK wide.
