Peace Incentive Fund
The Peace Incentive Fund (PIC) is explicitly focused on bridging knowledge and action and supporting city partners in their efforts to invest in prevention backed by evidence and network research.
In September 2020, Peace in Our Cities launched the Peace Incentive Fund (PIF). In its first iteration the PIF supported partners applying solutions to advance public health while simultaneously reinforcing public safety, based on PiOC’s research, Peace in Our Cities in Time of Pandemic report. Nine partners from eight different cities received small grants to advance city-based adaptations.
Linking research to action in the midst of a crisis not only reinforced capacity, but also an ethos of grounding action with evidence. Results from the PIF partners are proof that even a small investment can lead to substantial changes in the lives of those most vulnerable to violence and public safety vulnerabilities. The PiOC incentive Fund 2024-2025 considered research or activities in line with existing knowledge on good practices, as provided in PiOC’s 2022 flagship report Guiding Principles and Inspiring Actions: Operationalizing the Resolution to Reduce Urban Violence. Seven partners have been selected and are currently implementing their projects, which should be finalized by the end of 2025.
